Linking Girls to STEM

Girlslink: linking girls to stem through robotics

The program will involve 7th grade girls in a 6-week exploration on the basics of robotics and coding using the “Artificial Intelligence and Robotics" curriculum. It has a story line associated with the lessons that sets up a scenario for doing specific work for NASA. As a part of the GirlsLink program, each girl will receive a robot of their own, called an “mBot”® that the girls will assemble and program it to move/race. The girls will use the accessories for their mBot® to have experience with advanced 3-D imaging and highly engaging robotic activities. The girls will have the opportunity to learn new information and skills in a state-of-the-art Robotics Lab, housed at TCALC, the new innovative learning center of Topeka Public Schools. One of the GirlsLink sessions will include female engineer role models to talk to the girls about careers in engineering.
