As part of the Central Area of The Links, Incoporated’s Community Service Initative, the Topeka (KS) Chapter participated in the PoSITivity Bench project. The PoSITivity Bench spotlights the stress the pandemic has placed on isolation, mental health, suicide, loneliness, and achievement gaps. When a person sits on the bench, it our hope that it will encourage youth and adults to invite positive relationships, signal for assistance, to request a time to chat, take time to self-reflect and meditate or seek quiet time to read.
The Topeka (KS) Chapter chose McClure Elementary School as the location to place the bench to honor Dr. Jennifer Gordon. Dr. Gordon worked for Topeka Public Schools for 24 years and was the principal at McClure when she announced her retirement earlier this year.
